Challenges FAQs

To ensure fairness, all juniors regardless of their ability or experience should enter at Level 1 and work towards completing the challenges within this level. However, the program has been designed to cater for children at varying abilities and so you should see children with golf experience accelerate through the challenges and skill levels quicker than those without experience. Each child should then find the right challenge level for them.

No, this is one of the key components of the program in that it does not limit a juniors ability to move through the skill elements and levels. If a child completes a challenge or skill element, they can continue to the next level within each skill and skill element regardless of whether they have completed the level.

No, challenges must be completed under your supervision to ensure fairness for all. Challenges may also be completed during private lessons and juniors should be encouraged to practice the challenges outside of classes.

You may make the judgement in classes as to whether a child can complete a challenge with a suitable partner. However, you should attempt to supervise each child’s attempt at the challenge. We understand that instances may arise in a class where this isn’t possible and you need to use your judgement on this.

You will need to use your judgement as to whether it is in the child’s interest to move starting positions. If this isn’t appropriate, then the child’s focus should be shifted towards the On the Course challenges within the myJunior folder to keep the child engaged, rewarded and motivated.

As best practice, you should update the App regularly with the child’s progress. You can check a challenge as completed and this will automatically update their progress wheel and send the relevant virtual trophy. This will safeguard against any lost folders. Replacement folders can be given to the child at a small cost to their parents.

You should treat the challenges as a representation of real golf, therefore in the Driver and Fairway Wood challenges the target gates act as a Fairway and within the Iron challenge, the target circle acts as a green. Therefore, the challenge is completed when the ball comes to rest within one of the these targets.

Yes, they can. However, it is important to make sure that you maintain fairness across all juniors in the class. All juniors should have an opportunity to attempt the challenge and all juniors should have an equal opportunity at multiple attempts. It is your responsibility to ensure that you can deliver this.

No, challenges should only be completed in the challenge station. The class setup has been designed to rotate the juniors around the different stations. This will help you effectively deliver each element of the class and keep the children safe. The challenge station is also designed so the child is able to easily understand the challenge and how to navigate it.
